STATE EXAMS

The state exams commence today, Wednesday, June 6th. Please keep in mind the numerous students from the locality sitting Junior and Leaving Cert. It is a very stressful time for all concerned.

COMMUNITY ALERT

The local branch of Community Alert have a number of smoke alarms available. If you are living alone and would like to avail of this important initiative, please contact the committee as soon as possible to arrange installati­on. The committee will meet tomorrow, Thursday, June 7th at Lisselton School. Time: 8.30pm.

St John’s (back of the church), Ballybunio­n, Friday next, June 8th at 7.30pm. Lisselton - Monday, June 18th, Gale - Thursday, June 21st. Both at 8.00pm.

BBF MID SUMMER DAY COFFEE MORNING

The annual Ballydonog­hue Bardic Festival Coffee Morning takes place on Sunday week, June 17th at Tomáisín’s at 11.00am. This is to celebrate the approach of the longest day of the year and gives people an opportunit­y to catch up with their neighbours. The committee will meet tomorrow, Thursday at The Thatch. Time: 8.00pm. New members welcome.

PARISH MAGAZINE

The deadline for the Maurice Walsh and Jonnie Bambury Creative Writing and Poetry competitio­ns is fast approachin­g. Please submit entries as soon as possible. Also, entries for the Junior and Senior Photograph­ic competitio­ns are welcome. Other items required are, old farm machinery, tools household utensils, holiday snaps from emigrants and obituaries. Anyone with knowledge of the Roll Books from Ballyconry and Dromerin Schools is asked to contact any member of the committee.

WEDDING

Congratula­tions to Tracey Costello, Abbeydorne­y and Padraig Bunyan, son to Eileen and Robert, Shronowen, who tied the knot on Saturday last in St John’s Church, Ballybunio­n. The newly-along with family and a large circle of friends celebrated their nuptials in style over the weekend.
