Spooky fun in Kilcummin
IF you feel like embracing the Halloween spirit in full then a trip to Kilcummin on Sunday, October 28, is the place to be where Spooky Sprinters, Dashing Draculas, Fitness Freaks and everything in-between will be gathering for the annual ‘Spooky Sprint’.
This family Fun Run is a prelude to Halloween and is now in its second year. Run in association with Kilcummin National School Parents’ Association, this year’s event will raise funds for the Ian O’Connell Trust and Kilcummin National School. Last year’s event raised €1,500 and the hope is it can exceed this figure in 2018.
“We had such a great day last year and everyone enjoyed the fun run/walk and the party after, which saw traditional Halloween games being played out in the Kilcummin Recreational Hall. We’re excited to do it all again and hopefully raise some funds for the two nominated causes,” said Ann Marie O’Leary, co-organiser of the event.
The School Parents’ Association member, Derek O Leary, praised the event saying it gives people an opportunity to dust off the costumes before Halloween night.
“The fundraising part of the day is really important and it’s a great event. We also want to make sure that it’s a great family event where everyone can enjoy all aspects of the Halloween season.
“We’re encouraging everyone, children and adults, to come out in costume and make the most of the day. We’ll even have a much sought after prize for ‘ best dressed’ on the day,” Derek said.
Registration will commence at 11.30am in Kilcummin Recreational Hall (located just across the road from Kilcummin Church). Everyone is welcome.
