Fourteen Kerry schools in B, C, D and E competitions
THE other four grades of Munster Post-Primary Football kick off next Wednesday with Inbhear Sceine Kenmare defending the Munster ‘B’ Championship (Corn Uí Nuanáin) this year after losing the All-Ireland ‘B’ semi-final to Holy Trinity Cookstown afterwards. Colaiste an Spioráid Naomh Bishopstown are their opponents in the first round as there are four other Kerry schools in the grade.
Presentation Milltown face Midleton CBS in the first round with SPSL Rathmore facing nearby Colaiste Treasa of Kanturk. Colaiste na Sceilge take on Glanmire Community College as Tarbert
Comprehensive School take on Rockwell College of Tipperary in a straight 16-team knockout affair.
The ‘C’ competition features Gaelcolaiste Ciarraí of Tralee who made a major run to last year’s O’Sullivan Cup final in Kerry before losing out to The Sem. They face Bantry in the first round as St Pats Castleisland take on Phobail Scoil Na Trionide, Youghal with
St Michaels College Listowel operating in the ‘C’ grade this year and Patrician Academy Mallow their opponents in the first round.
A prominent Kerry Minor player features in this grade well with a Limerick school with Paul Walsh from Brosna lining out with Colaiste Ide agus Iosef Abbeyfeale in their game against Presentation College Mardyke. In the following round of the competition there is an interesting North Kerry derby between Causeway Comprehensive
School and St Josephs of Ballybunion.
The ‘D’ grade sees Meanscoil Castlegregory bid to go one better than last season’s final defeat as they face Colaiste an Chraobhín from Fermoy in the first round. Castleisland Community
College are also in this grade as they face SN Baile an Mhuirne in their first match.
The ‘E’ grade features Killarney Community College and Killorglin Community College. Killarney face Waterpark College Waterford in the first round while in the subsequent round Killorglin Community College take on McEgan College Macroom on Wednesday November 14.
