The Kerryman (North Kerry)

One all-Kerry FAI Cup clash

-

NEW BALANCE FAI JUNIOR CUP DRAW

EIGHT Kerry sides are in action in the FAI Junior Cup (Kerry/Clare/ Desmond section) next weekend hoping to make it through to the third round of the national competition.

One local side will definitely go through as there is one all Kerry clash with Killorglin drawn at home to Tralee Dynamos.

Castleisland, Listowel Celtic and Strand Road have home ties while The Park and Classic FC are away to Clare opposition.

All games are down for decision on Sunday at 2pm but the Killarney Celtic v Moher Celtic game will be played at Celtic Park on Saturday at 7pm.

Killorglin v Tralee Dynamos

ONE of the most appealing ties is the all Kerry clash of Killorglin and Tralee Dynamos. This should be a tight game with the odds probably in favour of Tralee Dynamos. The Tralee side have made some strong additions to their squad and they will be going into the game with a lot of confidence.

Killorglin will have no fears of their illustrious opponents as they have a good squad of players and they were unlucky not to make the Premier B League Final last season. With home advantage Killorglin will be hoping to make this count but Tralee Dynamos have enough quality to sneak this game.

Verdict: Tralee Dynamos

Killarney Celtic v Moher Celtic (Clare)

KILLARNEY Celtic host Clare side Moher Celtic and it will be a big surprise if they do not win this game. They beat them comfortably in the competition last season and will go into this game as red hot favourites. They have strengthened their squad this season and will be hoping to go a long way in the competition. They got to the semi-final three years ago losing to Dublin side Sheriff YC in a penalty shoot out. However you can’t take any game for granted and they will be approaching it cautiously and should be too strong for the Clare side.

Verdict: Killarney Celtic

Castleisland v Ballingarry (Desmond)

CASTLEISLAND entertain strong Desmond League side Ballingarry and they will have to be firing on all cylinders to win this game. New manager Edmond Hartnett has assembled a strong panel of players and he will be hoping they can rise to the occasion and engineer a win. Castleisland are always very difficult to beat on their home patch and if they play up to scratch they should be good enough to squeeze out a win.

Verdict: Castleisland

Strand Road v Glin Rovers (Desmond)

STRAND Road make their debut in the competition and face a tough test against formidable Desmond League side Glin Rovers. They have strengthened their squad of players significantly for the new season and are capable of holding their own with any team. However they will go into this game as outsiders and Glin Rovers will be favourites to win.

Verdict: Glin Rovers

Listowel Celtic v Avenue United (Clare)

LISTOWEL Celtic face a very strong Clare side at Pat Kennedy Park and will have to perform to the best of their abilities if they are to win this one. Avenue United won the Premier League title in Clare last season so they are very formidable opposition. Celtic play an attractive brand of football and they have a great home record. They will be on a high after a great win over Dingle Bays Rovers in the Munster Junior Cup last Sunday and they are capable of springing a surprise but the odds seem to be against them. It should be a close game but Avenue United may bee too strong for the Fealesiders.

Verdict: Avenue United

Shannon Town (Clare) v The Park

A YOUNG Park side travel to Clare to play Shannon Town and they face a major task to try and win this one. Shannon Town are a strong Clare side who do well in the competition every year and it is difficult to see them lose at home. However Padraig McCannon and Tadhg Healy will have their squad well siked up for the big game and will be hoping they bring off a shock result. It looks unlikely and the home side should win this game.

Verdict: Shannon Town

Shannon Olympic (Clare) v Classic FC

CLASSIC FC travel to Clare to face Shannon Olympic and should be in with a reasonable chance of coming away with a win. They have got off to a great start in the league and will be brimming with confidence going into what should be a close game.

Verdict: Classic FC FAI CUP ROUND 2 DRAW
