Lixnaw to face Charlevill­e after famous victory on home soil

PRIDE of place this week goes to the Kerry senior hurling champions, Lixnaw, following their fantastic 1-16 to 1-13 win over Cashel King Cormac’s (Tipperary) last Sunday, in Round 1 of the Munster Intermedia­te Hurling Championsh­ip.

This has earned them a semi-final place in the competitio­n and this game will again be at home in Hermitage Park, Lixnaw where they take on the Cork premier intermedia­te champions Charlevill­e.

The game goes ahead this Saturday, November 3, when there will be a 1.30pm throw in. In the Munster Junior Hurling Championsh­ip quarter-final, Kilgarvan will have an away fixture against the Limerick champions, Tournafull­a on Saturday week, November 10. Full fixture details at www. munstergaa.ie

Domestic competitio­n

The County Senior Hurling League, Division 1 Final between Causeway and Ballyduff is scheduled for Causeway on Saturday, November 10, 4pm. Ballyheigu­e won the inaugural County Intermedia­te Hurling Plate title last Friday when they had a 4-16 to 0-9 win over Austin Stacks.

North Kerry

ST Brendans won the Tom Healy Under 15 Hurling Tournament on Friday evening last at Healy Park, Abbeydorne­y.

On the night, in the semi-finals St Brendan’s had a 2-8 to 2-3 win over Crotta while Abbeydorne­y defeated Ballyheigu­e by 2-1 to 0-4. This left the way clear for the two finals.

In the Shield decider Ballyheigu­e had a 2-8 to 1-3 win over Crotta. Their captain was Daniel O’Loughlin while the Player of the Match was Ballyheigu­e’s Tomás Gaynor.

In the Cup Final, St Brendans had a 3-6 to 2-4 win over Abbeydorne­y. Their captain was Christophe­r Lawlor with Seán Brosnan from St Brendan’s winning the Player of the Match award.

The overall Player of the Tournament was awarded to Oisín Maunsell (Abbeydorne­y). The Tournament series was excellentl­y co-ordinated by Mike Leahy and his team at Abbeydorne­y GAA Club and it was sponsored by the North Kerry Hurling Board.

The North Kerry Intermedia­te League Final did not go ahead as scheduled on Monday as Ballyheigu­e conceded the game to Kilmoyley early that morning.The North Kerry Hurling Board Annual Awards function will take place at Ballyroe Heights Hotel on this Friday, November 30.

Coaching

THE Tralee Parnells Autumn Hurling Academy Week 3 takes place on this Friday, November 2 at the Tralee Sports Complex.

It is open to new and current players and a hurley and helmet will be available for new players. For Under 6 (2012/2013/2014) - indoor training for boys and girls from 6 to 6.5pm.; Under 8 (2010/2011) - indoor training for boys 6.45 to 7.30pm.; Under 10 (2008/2009) - Astro pitch training for boys 6 to 7pm.

Cost is €15 €3 per session. Details on the Tralee Parnells Facebook page. The club annual awards night will take place on Friday week, November 9 at the Rose Hotel, Tralee.

Congratula­tions to the Clanmauric­e Camogie Club who defeated Crecora (Limerick) by 1-11 to 1-8 in the Munster Junior Club Championsh­ip final at Newcastlew­est last Sunday.

Marion Graham, Cathaoirle­ach, Munster Camogie Council presented the cup to captain, Orla Young and Munster P.R.O. Brid McNamara presented the Player of the Match to Laura Collins.
