The Wedding and the Tan

out into the world with a host of basic life skills we’re seeing them off with money in their pockets, Tupperware filled with dinners and a promise to do their washing when they return.

So really was it any wonder when we left the eldest at home while we went on holiday recently that we were inundated with crisis calls? Two missed calls by the time we touched down.

“Mam, I can’t find the toothpaste.”

“Well go up and buy some.” “Where would I buy it?” How can he not know where to buy toothpaste, I ask myself. Probably because he’s never had to buy any.

Next call - “Mam how do you know when a pizza is cooked?” “How long has it been in for?” “Eh......I don’t know.”

Two hours later. “Mam how do you work the dishwasher?”

This was closely followed by “how do you open a can of dog food?”

His personal best came when he rang us to tell us he’d made porridge for his breakfast but didn’t realise you had to use milk!!

I blame myself. There’s no one else I can point the finger at. This is 100% my fault. So there’s only one thing I can do to rectify the situation.

Some of you are curious to know how I got on with the spray tan. It was perfect, but that is my own opinion! The tan was even, no streaks, and I had a lovely natural looking golden glow. For me the spray tan was a lot better than my pasty white legs, or having to wear tan tights. I was delighted with the outcome. My thanks to Diane Jordan from Beyond Beauty here in Wexford, she made the process so simple for me.

I was very nervous about every aspect of having a spray tan. I did everything I was supposed to do, I exfoliated, moisturised and did the trial run. I would advise you if you are thinking of getting a spray tan to do a trial run a few weeks before the event.

Just to make sure that you like it, that it looks good on you, and to see how many days it takes to fade. For example I had the spray done two days before the wedding and on the wedding day it was a perfect glow. You might not like the colour, the feel of it, or the scent, so it’s very wise to do a test run first.

Some people asked what products I used. The spray tan was Vita Liberta. The exfoliator and moisturiser that I used were a lovely Irish made range. They are made with stimulating seaweed extracts. I used the Seavite Illuminating and Firming Body Exfoliator. I also used Seavite Firming and Toning Body Lotion, this nourishes even the driest of skins and is suitable for sensitive skin. They’re beautiful products.

After the wedding I kept my tan topped up with Organic Lavera Self-Tanning Lotion. I had also experimented with this before the wedding and liked the colour and natural looking glow it had on my skin.

So there you have it, my self-tanning wedding experiment concluded. I might never have another one in my life, but at least I know what to expect if I change my mind. And of course my daughter looked absolutely beautiful, and we all had a wonderful day. It was perfect.
