THE global running movement, Run in the Dark, comes to Kerry on November 7 for its first year.
Participants can join the 5k run taking them along Inch Beach in a unique night running experience, which will be led by local man Mike O’Shea.

7. ‘THE MATCHMAKER’ IN THE INEC
THE acting talents of Jon Kenny and Mary McEvoy will be back in Kerry for one night only this weekend as they take to the stage in the INEC for a performance of John B Keane’s ‘The Matchmaker’.
The play recently received a standing ovation at Tralee’s Siamsa Tíre and this writer would not bet against this repeating itself in Killarney on Sunday November 11.
Tickets will cost €27.65; doors open at 7pm with the show itself starting at 8pm.
8. BOULEENSHERE NS TO HOLD TABLE QUIZ IN FLAHIVES
THE annual fundraising table quiz in aid of Bouleenshere NS will take place in Flahives Bar in Ballyheigue on the night of Friday November 9.
The quiz will start at 9pm and a table of four will cost just €20; there will also be a raffle with spot prizes on the night.
9. SVP FASHION NIGHT IN BALLYBUNION
A SAINT Vincent De Paul fashion night will be held in the Marine Bar and Restaurant in Ballybunion on the night of November 16.
The night will be in aid of the Ballybunion SVP branch; it will feature fashion, fun and plenty of food and drink.
Doors on the night will open at 6:30pm and tickets are set to cost €35 each; early booking is essential as places are limited. Call 06827139 for more information.
10. GET EXERCISING THIS WEEKEND WITH PARKRUN
WHY not try to head down to take part in one of the many parkruns taking place around Kerry at the weekends? There are five parkruns in Kerry: Tralee, Killarney, Listowel, Inch Beach and the Tralee junior parkrun.
These free 5km events are run every weekend by volunteers and they have been proven to be extremely popular in improving both physical and mental health.
The Tralee. Listowel and Killarney parkruns are held every Saturday morning from 9:30am onwards while the Tralee Junior parkrun takes place on Sunday at 9:30am - these 2km events are aged for children from 4-14 years old.
