Tralee CBS get their Corn Uí Mhuirí campaign underway

THE second round of fixtures in the Corn Uí Mhuirí takes place today with runners-up of the last two years Tralee CBS getting their campaign underway in Group A in Ballyvourn­ey against St Francis College, Rochestown who defeated Colaiste Chriost Rí in the first round of fixtures.

In Group C, meanwhile, defending champions Pobalscoil Corcha Dhuibhne will take on De La Salle Macroom looking to build on their opening win over Skibbereen. The match takes place in Lewis Road, Killarney.

In the other Group of Kerry interest, Group D, St Brendan’s College travel to Millstreet at 1pm to take on Clonakilty Community College, with the side they defeated on the opening day, Intermedia­te School Killorglin, playing Mercy Mounthawk Tralee in the only all Kerry clash of the second round of the Corn Ui Mhuirí in Farranfore at 1.30pm.

Meanwhile, the semi-finals of the ‘B’ competitio­n see two Kerry schools guaranteed semi-final spots as defending champions Pobalscoil Inbhear Sceine Kenmare and Presentati­on Milltown clash in one quarter-final with Colaiste na Sceilge and SPSL Rathmore to meet in another all Kerry affair at the same stage.

The ‘C’ competitio­n sees a North Kerry derby between St Joseph’s Ballybunio­n and Causeway Comprehens­ive School in Round 2 as Gaelcolais­te Ciarraí of Tralee play Ballincoll­ig Community School at the same stage on Monday afternoon.

In the ‘D’ competitio­n Castleisla­nd Community School take on SN Baile An Mhuire in Round 2.

In the ‘E’ competitio­n Killorglin Community College received a walkover from McEgan College Macroom to advance to the next phase.

Killarney Community College conceded a walkover to Waterpark College Waterford.
