ALL roads led to Cappoquin last weekend for Kerry players in Grade C and Grade D (Kerry Div 1 and 2). Thankfully many of the players from the Kingdom were on song on the day as it proved to be a very successful event for the county.

Elaine Hudson (Moyvane) and Maeve Twomey (Killarney) not only claimed gold in the Grade D Ladies Doubles they were also managed to get to the final of the Grade C Ladies Doubles which was a great achievement for the pair.

Maeve then partnered with Paul Kingston (Cork) and claimed the D Mixed title beating the all Kerry partnership of Niamh Hickey (Killarney) and Fergal Hannon (Listowel) in the final.

KILLARNEY and District Motor Club launched its 2018 edition of the Rentokil Initial Historic Rally with a special function in Scott’s Hotel on Sunday.

Ireland’s only rally dedicated to historic and modified rally cars takes place on Saturday, December 1.

Sunday’s launch was attended by senior club officials and some leading local competitors where route details and an unseeded entry was revealed.

Under the stewardship of new clerk of the course, Martin Farrell, the route will take in Killarney favourites like Moll’s Gap and Beallaghbeama but with some never before used roads.

Beallaghbeama will feature a new start location near Blackwater office while the Carragh Lake stage will finish near the Red Fox Inn. A new version of the Kilcummin stage, run twice in quick succession, will close the rally on Saturday evening.
