HERITAGE CENTRE AGM

The Annual General Meeting of The Sliabh Luachra Heritage Centre in Scartaglen will be held in the centre on Tuesday night December 11th at 7pm everyone welcome.

DRAMA

The Sliabh Luachra Drama Group have recently commenced re-hearsing a play for 2019. Next year, this highly talented group of local actors will present “Translatio­ns” by Brian Friel, and that’s a presentati­on that one can eagerly look forward to, so good luck with the rehearsals and preparatio­ns folks.

MOBILE LIBRARY

A good book is still a very good companion and now that the long winter nights are with us again, it’s a suitable time for reading. Kerry County Councils Mobile Library’s next visit to Scartaglin will be on this Thursday morning November 22nd from 9.45am to 10.15am.

This is a very useful and is free of charge.

Sliabh Luachra Active Retired Christmas Party will be held on Friday November 30th in the River Island Hotel Castleisla­nd commencing at 7pm.

The death occurred recently in Melbourne, Australia of Noreen O’Riordan (nee Culloty).

The late Noreen who had been ill for some time was originally from Ballahanto­urig, she is survived by her husband Donal who is from Ardfert (being a brother of former top Athlete and Journalist, Tom O’Riordan) by her daughters Erin and Tara and by her sisters Sheila, Kathleen, Maureen and Breda and by her brother Tom. May she Rest in Peace.

Cumann Luachra launched their Sliabh Luachra Journal No 18 on Friday night last November 16th in the Club Rooms Gneeveguil­la.

This is a very informativ­e and well produced Journal. This 104 page Journal contains a wide range of Articles on traditiona­l music and song, the personalit­ies, life and lore of the area and is illustrate­d by lots of old photograph­s. The journal costs €12 and is great value for that price.

The A.G.M of Scartaglin GAA Club will take place in the Clubhouse on Sunday December 9th at 4pm.

All members are invited to attend. Nomination­s and motions should be submitted to Club Secretary Noreen Rahilly, Knockacorr­in before Sunday December 2nd.
