Mother’s relief as Sean Binder released on bail
A KERRY mother whose son has been detained in a Greek jail for over three months has spoken of her sheer relief after news broke that he is expected to be released on bail today ( Wednesday).
Sean, who moved to Castlegregory when he was five and is a former student of the Gaelcholáiste Chiarraí, had been in prison in Greece following his arrest on suspicion of human trafficking, money laundering, espionage and being a member of a criminal organisation. He had been working in Greece with an NGO.
There will be no restrictions on his bail and he will be free to return to Ireland as he awaits a date for his trial in Greece, his mother Fanny stated.
Speaking to The Kerryman on Tuesday night, Fanny described her mood as “absolutely ecstatic” ahead of his expected release.
“It is a big relief, absolutely. It is very amazing. It has been so quick as well, all of a sudden everything is happening. We are working very hard to get the logistics of the bail figured out,” she said.
