EVERYONE at St Patrick’s Secondary School, Castleisland, is delighted with the news this week that Stephen Murphy, who completed his Leaving Certificate at the school this year, has been awarded the UCC Quercus Entrance Scholarship for the 2018/2019 academic year.

Stephen has been awarded the scholarship on the basis of his outstanding achievement in the 2018 leaving certificate. He achieved 601 points in his leaving certificate exams and is now in UCC studying Law and French.

Stephen received the Jim Lyons award for excellence in English at the school earlier in the year.

Stephen will be presented with his scholarship tomorrow, Thursday, December 6, by the president of UCC Professor Patrick G O’Shea at the scholarship Awards ceremony.

This is a great achievement for Stephen and his family, and it is well deserved.

Stephen is a son of Monica and Stephen Murphy, Moanmore.

Delighted and proud of the achievements of all his students, St Patrick’s Principal Denis O’Donovan wished Stephen well in his studies for the future.
