The Kerryman (North Kerry)

Musicians ‘we’ve got you covered’ ...

-

CHRISTMAS and shopping malls are made for each other, and thanks to a new initiative by Tralee Chamber Alliance, with the assistance of Kerry County Council, musicians in The Mall will be well covered this Christmas, literally!

Singers and musicians will be covered for the festive season in Tralee thanks to an all-weather marquee, which will be in place in time for the run up to Christmas. Musicians will present a programme of live music to suit all tastes from local entertainers, theatre groups, Gardaí, post office staff and schools. Weather won’t be able to spoil the atmosphere this year as shoppers enjoy the dulcet tones of the season.

Tralee Chamber Alliance’s Managing Consultant, Ken Tobin, said carol singers add an incredible atmosphere to Tralee town centre at Christmas - as well as adding, where relevant, a valuable fundraising aspect to various local charities and projects.

“We’ve all seen it, each year school children and their teachers under umbrellas in the driving rain while belting out their Carols. This year the schools, clubs and groups are welcome to make use of the Marquee in the Mall, free of charge,” Ken said.

The recent Busking Festival, held over the October Bank Holiday Weekend, was a huge success. This event was coordinated by Lisa Curran who will once again put together a variety of entertainment for people to enjoy.

Other performers will include Seamus Harty, Chapter 2, Lauryn Griffin, Owen Rua, Castlemaine Choir, buskers, Scotia Ensemble String Quartet, a samba group, while a local magician well also perform. There will be a traditional flair also with Trad groups from Ardfert and Ballyheigue. Shoppers will be alive to the sound of music this Christmas in Tralee.
