December 8th to kick start Christmas in Cahersiveen...

-

DECEMBER 8 is the traditional commencement date for all things festive in Cahersiveen as the famous town gets ready to celebrate the start of an exciting few weeks. The town’s schedule of events is always eagerly awaited as it heralds the start of another celebration of Christmas fun and bargains.

It’s thanks to the Cahersiveen Traders’ Association for putting the final touches together, which are well received by locals and visitors alike. There’s still a chance for you to help raise money for the festive activities by attending the last of this year’s pub quizzes on this Friday night (the 7th) at The Corner House. There’s still time too to buy a raffle ticket in local shops for a chance to win a Carter Hexagon bike worth €370. This has been donated by Casey’s Cycles and the proceeds will go towards funding the Christmas lights in Cahersiveen.

December 8 marks a daylong celebration with early morning mass, guided walks, children’s face painting, Christmas Market and street music. There will also be free parking all day.

But the primary focus is all geared towards the main event itself which is the Christmas Parade at 6pm followed by the turning on of the Christmas lights, performed by none other than Santa himself, who will be at the Community Centre from 12 to 5pm. All parade goers are asked to assemble beforehand at the back of Crainns car-park.

There’s also some added incentive for shoppers as the Cahersiveen Traders’ Association’s mantra is a simple one this year: ‘not just 10% off’. Specially commissioned ‘Traders Choice’ cards will be available on the day to entice customers into shops to discover for themselves the range of offers and bargains that participating traders will have available. Moreover, all shops will stay open until 8pm.

“At Christmas we feel our customers deserve a little more, which is why our ‘10% off’ discount is important. There will be plenty of bargains on the day and it promises to be an exciting one with plenty of fun for all the family,” said Lisa O’Shea, PRO of Cahersiveen Traders’ Association.
