CONGRATULA­TIONS

Congratula­tions to Moyvane GAA for a wonderful, wonderful show last Friday night. It proves what can be done with cooperatio­n and of course plenty of hard work. Tickets were sold out two weeks in advance and seats were filled well before the start time. The Community Centre looked like a wedding venue with draping and lighting that compliment­ed the show. The music was amazing and of course the performers did themselves proud. Katie Galvin was Katie Galvin! She kept the show going at pace and is never short of a word! To all involved take a bow and if you missed it this year make sure you book your tickets on time for next year.

BADMINTON

Division 3 Ladies League: Moyvane defeated Listowel 6-0. Team: Carmel Hudson, Denise Collins, Janelle Griffin and Bridget McCarthy. Division 4 Men’s League: Listowel defeated Moyvane 4-2. Team: Micheal Collins, Liam O’Connor, Barry O’Callaghan and Liam Greaney. Knockout Cup was held in Killarney last Sunday. Moyvane’s Divsion 5 team were Runners Up. Team: Eva Browne, Aimee Griffin, Eileen Roche, Radek and Greg Horan. Moyvane will host its 33rd Annual Invitation Tournament this Sunday, December 09. Division 5’s @ 12.15, Division 4’s @ 2.15, Division 3’s @ 4.15 and Division 1 & 2’s @ 5.30.

HANDED DOWN

Programme 3 in the latest series of Handed Down shows will take place in The Heritage Centre on this Saturday night December 8th from 8pm 10.30pm. The title of the presentati­on is “Did you hear that before?” the musical legacy of Maurice O Keeffe and the presenter is Maire O Keeffe. An accomplish­ed player and teacher with some fine CDs to her credit . This year she will look back on her time spent with the fiddle player Maurice O Keeffe R.I.P from Kiskeam . A man known for his generosity in sharing his vast repertoire of tunes as well as humour and good company. John Coakley will be Máire’s guest on the night. Also on the night the 2018 Dan O Connell Memorial Award will be awarded to “The Rising” a young exciting traditiona­l band from the Killarney area. After the award they will play for a half set and honour the late Timmy the Brit with their choice of tunes .

Special guests on the night are Diarmuid O Brien and Clodagh Buckley , Singer John Walsh and two groups of young musicians Olwyn and Ewan Evans from Kilcummin and from Co Cork Rachael O Connor , Ciara Hartnett and Leah Murphy . The friends of Maurice O Keeffe Group led by Mick Culloty, Paul De Grae , Sean Abeyta , Mike Rice ,Dee O Sullivan and Mary Lawless will bring the night to a close after the presentati­on.

RAMBLING HOUSE

The Christmas Rambling House session in Scartaglen Heritage Centre will take place on Monday night ext December 10th , starting time 8.30pm. There will be a Christmas flavour to the proceeding­s and as always it should be a very enjoyable night. Admission is free with a raffle and refreshmen­ts on the night. All are welcome.

GAA ANNUAL MEETING

Sunday next December 9th is the date set aside for the Annual General Meeting of Scartaglin GAA Club which will be held in the Clubhouse with a starting time of 4pm. All involved and interested are requested to attend.

The Annual St Vincent De Paul Church Gate Collection will be taken up at Masses on weekend of December 8th/9th.
