Listowel native Fr Dalton passes away in Florida

THERE are a lot of doggy people in Kerry and far outside it who will have learned with much regret of the death of Florida-based Fr Bryan Dalton, who was from Listowel.

I had the great privilege of knowing Fr Bryan over many years and I will never forget the emotional night at Cork Track in 1996 when the Mossy O’Connor-trained Deerfield Bypass, one of many great greyhounds he owned in this country and across the Atlantic, won the Irish Laurels for him. He also won the Irish St Leger in 1998 with Deerfield Sunset.

Sad to think that those of us who knew him will never again have the pleasure of his company when he comes home on holidays.
