Christmas rambling house in in aid of chemotherapy ward

Call for Lyme consultant in UHK – Cahill

-

A CHRISTMAS rambling house will be held at Fr Casey’s club house, Abbeyfeale, on Thursday, December 20, in aid of the Chemotherapy Day Ward at University Hospital Kerry.

Citing how the facility provides treatment to cancer patients five days a week, organisers have said the public’s support would be greatly appreciated.

“We want to make sure there is enough funds to keep this beneficial unit open, [one] which provides a friendly and caring service to people in Kerry, Limerick and parts of Cork,” they said.

They are also hoping to have as many singers. dancers, storytellers and musicians along on the night to make it one to remember.

Santa and Mrs Claus will also make an appearance on the night.

Doors will open at 8.30pm. The show begins at 9pm, and there will be spot prizes galore. COUNCILLOR Michael Cahill has called for the HSE and Department of Health to provide a dedicated Lyme Disease Treatment Unit in the southern region.

He said he would like to see a consultant in infectious diseases appointed to University Hospital Kerry (UHK).

“This horrible condition is becoming more prevalent, particularly in our own county,” Cllr Cahill said.

“It is highly unacceptable to be sending more and more people abroad for treatment”, he added.
