New road for Walking on Cars

DINGLE band Walking on Cars are embarking on a new stage of their career with the recent launch of their new single and the upcoming launch of their eagerly anticipated second album.

The launch of their single ‘ Monsters’ last Friday marks a new phase in their career. The once five-piece has become four with the departure of Dan Devane and the music has taken a different direction, although it remains instantly recognisable as the sound of Walking on Cars.

Lead singer Pa Sheehy is upbeat about the album. “I’m very excited for people to hear it,” he told The Kerryman this week. “The album is called Colours, it is like nothing we have ever done before.”

A second album is a pivotal point in the musical development of a band and according to Pa we can look forward to muisc that has “moments of upbeat dance-your-ass-off tracks” with the range also extending to “tracks that make you want to lock yourself in your bedroom and cry”.

The West Kerry band who started locally as a five-piece outfit rose to international success following the release of their chart-topping, double platinum-selling first album ‘Everything This Way’ in January 2016. Since that time they have notched up 117 million streams of their music on Spotify and over 53 million YouTube views. Meanwhile, on the international touring circuit they have enthralled audiences from the US to Australia.

Next year Walking on Cars will launch into a tour to promote the album, taking in some of the largest venues in Ireland. Tickets for the band’s gigs at the 3Arena, The Waterfront Hall in Belfast and Irish Independent Park (formerly Musgrave Park) in Cork go on sale on Thursday morning at 9am.
