Man moved his sister’s car from ‘A to B’ without insurance

A YOUNG man who took it upon himself to ‘stupidly’ move his sister’s car from ‘A to B’ without insurance was fined €250 for the offence and fined €100 for driving without a licence, at Listowel District Court on Thursday.

Judge David Waters exercised his discretion not to disqualify Luke Elliott, Toor, Duagh, from driving, having heard the mitigation in the case.

Mr Elliott was stopped at a garda checkpoint on April 5. Solicitor Pat Enright said his client had ‘stupidly’ decided to ‘ take it upon himself to move it [his sister’s car] from A to B’.

Mr Enright described the 20-year-old as a ‘ hard-working’ man.
