RATTOO ROVERS U17’S

Rattoo Rovers drew 3 3 with St. Brendans Park of Tralee in the U17 Kerry League on Saturday December 1st in an excellent game. The Rattoo scorers were Nathan McGrath, Dylan Moriarty and Rhys Keene. Man of the Match was Aodhán Shanahan. Well done lads.

CHRISTMAS PARTY

Ballyduff Senior Citizens Christmas Party takes place on this Sunday December 16th at the Ballyroe Heights Hotel. Tickets have distribute­d over the last few weeks and anybody who has not received one should contact a committee member. A bus will leave The Square, Ballyduff for Ballyroe at 12.00noon.

Katie & Kevin McCabe, Kilmore, Ballyduff have decided to light up their home in aid of Palliative Care, Kerry University Hospital. A box will be in place at their home.

DEATHS

The death took place of Shelia O’Carroll (née O’Sullivan), Lacca, Ballyduff. Her remains were removed from Lawlor’s Funeral Home, Ballyduff to SS Peter’s & Paul’s Church. Burial was in Rahela cemetery.

The death took place of Jim Murphy, Ballincros­sig, Ballyduff and formerly of The Meadowland­s Hotel, Tralee. His remains were removed from Casey’s Funeral Home, Causeway to SS Peter’s & Paul’s Church, Ballyduff. Burial was in Rahela cemetery. Sympathy is extended to the families, relatives and friends of the above deceased.

FESTIVE FUN 5K:

The annual Festive Fun 5k in aid of the Irish Cancer Society will take place again this year on December 26th in Ballyduff. Walkers and runners alike are welcome. The walk/run will begin at 11.00am, departing from the church car park. Donations on the day or Sponsorshi­p cards are also available, call Gillian on 0863248816. ATHLETICS:

At a meeting of St Brendan’s AC recently, the dates for the 2019 primary schools indoor sports and the Banna Runs were revealed. The primary schools indoor sports for the club area will be staged in Causeway hall on Wednesday, January 31st and there will be individual medals for the top three in each event as well as a best overall school award. The 2019 Banna Runs will be held on Sunday, August 4th and this will be the 10th anniversar­y of the 10k event.

The St Brendan’s AC Facebook page is hoping to publish some more photograph­s from the past, over the winter weeks, as some old photograph­s were very popular when published last year. Some of these photos show club athletes in action from various Community Games events in the 1980s and 1990s. Training for juveniles continues on Wednesday evenings from 6.30 to 8pm for U8 to U11 in Ardfert Community Centre. Training for U12s upwards is on Wednesdays also but in Ardfert sportsfiel­d from 6.45 to 7.45pm. There is a weekly run in Tralee for senior and master athletes on Thursdays at 6.30pm and details of this are on the Fit4Life page of the club’s blogspot.
