CD LAUNCH
All roads lead to next Sundays Traditional Music Session at O Neills, Railway Tavern Bar, Camp to celebrate the launch of Nora Rice’s CD. Entitled Lifes Journey, Nora’s album is a collection of lovely songs from her own wonderful repertoire of songs and all performed by the singer, herself. Musicians and singers for all corners of the county and beyond will be there for what promises to be a mighty session of the best of Irish music and song. Everybody is welcome to The Railway Tavern on Sunday next, 16th December, 8.30 p.m A night not to be missed ! The CD is available for sale in shops and bars in Camp, Castlegregory, Annascaul, Dingle and Tralee ! Congratulations Nora !
ANNASCAUL GAA
Annascaul GAA and Coiste na n-Óg end of Year celebration night will be held at The Dingle Bay Hotel on Saturday, 15th December. Tickets priced at E15 can now be purchased from Sean Barry and James McCarthy. Senior Teams success 1987 1993 will be honoured and medals presented to 2018 Cahill Cup winners. Launch of Club development Plan and also celebrating seniors gaining promotion to Division 2 in the County Senior League on the night. Finger food will be served. The number of tickets available is limited, so be quick and get your ticket, so that you won’t miss out !
ECUMENICAL CAROL SERVICE
An ecumenical Carol Service will be held on Sunday next, December 16th at 3.00 p.m. in The Church of Ireland, Kilgobbin. Refreshments afterwards in the old School, Camp. Everybody welcome !
CHARITY FESTIVE CHRISTMAS SWIM
This years festive Christmas Swim at Garrahies Gap will take place at 10.30am on Tuesday 25th December. And there will be an official countdown so get on your marks! Warm drinks will be served. All proceeds will go to the local charity Camp Hill, Dingle.
ANNUAL CHRISTMAS WALK
The Annual Christmas Walk will be held on Saturday December 29th. There are 2 routes planned, a4 mile walk and a longer 8 mile walk. Registration 10.00 am in the Old School, Camp.
CHRISTMAS TREES
And if you haven’t got your Christmas Tree yet, then its time to stop off at O Dwyers Mace where you will find the nicest Christmas trees and locally grown too, up the road in Camp ! The Christmas tree shop is open weekends, Friday to Sunday, 10 am to 5.00 p.m. There are really nice freshly made grave, door and table centre wreaths as well. THE DINGLE WAY AGM
There was a large attendance at The Dingle Way AGM held Upstairs in John Bennys Pub, Dingle on 6th December. Outgoing Chairman John Ahern reported a busy year on the Dingle Way. John was delighted to welcome an allocation of E208,000.00 in funding received recently through the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport. John acknowledged and thanked Minister Brendan Griffin T.D. for his support of the application saying that it would not have happened without the Ministers support and intervention.
John also thanked Kerry Co. Council, Údarás na Gaeltachta, NEWKD and South Kerry Partnership for their support and he particularly acknowledged the help of Fíonnán ó Hógáin, Údarás na Gaeltachta, John Sheehy, Dingle, Patricia Deane, SKP and John Griffin, Joe McCarthy and Colm Nagle, Kerry Co. Council. John welcomed the newly appointed Dingle Way, Tourism and Cultural Officer Liadáin Slattery to the meeting. Liadáin will work on promotion and marketing and upgrading the website along with linking in with Dingle Peninsula Tourism Alliance and work to create new packages to attract off season visitors. This position is funded by Údarás na Gaeltachta. John Ahern was praised for his commitment over the years and his passion and enthusiasm in working towards making the Dingle Way a world class walking route and attraction for visitors ! Kevin O Shea also noted the Health and Fitness aspect of walking for everybody, locals and tourists alike. The following officers were elected for the coming year Chairman Colm Bambury, Vice Chairman John Ahern, Secretary Brigid O Connor, Treasurer Kevin O Shea, PRO Noel Spillane. and mince pies. Thanks to all the marketers for providing such a choice of food and crafts for our enjoyment. And a big thank you to the choir for not only serenading us with Christmas carols on Saturday, but presenting us with a concert on Sunday and, to the Church for providing us with tea and goodies after the service.
COMMUNITY ALERT GROUP AGM
Friday 14th December at 7.30 pm in the Small Hall at the Club Rooms. Participants are encouraged to attend or, if unable to do so, representatives for them if. A member of Garda Síochána will attend to present further information regarding aspects of safety in the community. Funding for the alarms is through an Pobal. Pendant alarms have been successfully installed for several residents in the community, who are happy with the results. The alarms provide a good measure of security.
