LAOCHRA GAEL
The sad passing of Jerome O’Shea, Cahirciveen brings to mind the 1949 All Ireland Minor Final which Kerry lost to Armagh. Lining out that day with tall fair haired Jerome was John Coleman, Tarbert who was the smallest player on the panel and also the late Colm Kennelly, Ballylongford and Bobby Buckley, Clounmacon. Six of that defeated Kerry Minor team were to progress to the Kerry Senior side which defeated Armagh when next the counties met in the !953 All Ireland Final. Jerome O’Shea and Colm Kennelly were among the medal winners.
His many friends and admirers at home and abroad will be delighted to hear that John is progressing well following his recent stay in hospital.

A pastoral letter from Bishop Brendan Leahy was read at masses on recently outlining changes being put into effect in parishes throughout the diocese of Limerick resulting from the shortage of priests and the desire to have more involvement from the lay people in church ministry.
The congregation was informed that neighbouring parishes would work together as a new Pastoral Unit with the priests within the area operating as a team. Templeglantine is included with Abbeyfeale, Tournafulla, Mountcollins and Athea in our Pastoral Unit. The Pastoral Unit will have one Baptismal Preparation Team but baptisms will take place in the parent’s local church.
