Ballyduff basks in festive glow of market

- By FERGUS DENNEHY

LOCALS got the chance to experience a real Christmas treat in Ballyduff as the annual ‘Christmas Evening in Ballyduff ’ took place last Sunday.

An event aimed at helping enhance the Christmas spirit in the parish, there was no shortage of festive fun to be found in the village as crowds flocked to enjoy and take part in the brilliant volunteer-led family fun day.

With over 15 stalls, balloon making, free face-painting and even a visit from the one and only Santa and his wife, Mrs Claus, it was safe to say that there was a little bit for everyone to enjoy.

It was wall-to-wall festive red and green as locals sold their homemade seasonal treats, including candles and homemade gingerbread men.

Kingdom Party Pals also lent their support to the day as some of the best-loved children’s characters posed for photos.

“The day was organised by three local groups, with the main aim being to help bring a festive atmosphere to the village,” said Karen Brown, speaking to on Monday.

“Everyone enjoyed themselves on the day and there was quite a good atmosphere. There was a good crowd, and all the kids on the day got to meet Santa and they got a free selection box as well,” she continued.

“The day would not have been possible without the help of all the volunteers, who lent their time free of charge. It went really well,” she finished.
