- By SINEAD KELLEHE R

TALBOT Grove Director Con Cremin, is moving to new pastures this January after taking up a position at a residential centre in Cork.

Mr Cremin has been at the helm of the addiction treatment centre in Castleisland for 22 years and took the decision to leave for a new challenge in 2019. Originally from Ballingeary in Cork, juts over the border, he moved to Kerry to take up the position in Talbot Grove and for the past 22 years he has helped the centre grow and develop, helping thousands of people battling addiction in Kerry in the process.

Talbot Grove is run by a voluntary board of management to provide an in-treatment programme in the county.

Mr Cremin says that he is sad to say goodbye to the centre, but it was time for a new challenge.

“I have had the pleasure of working with fantastic people that have come through the treatment facility over the years, as well as with fantastic staff and board members.,” he said this week.

“I also appreciate all the support that Kerry people have given to the centre over the years.”

Councillor John Francis Flynn led tributes at Kerry County Council on Monday to Mr Cremin for all he has done for the county over the years.

Cllr Flynn has spoken publicity about his own battle with alcohol in a bid to help others, and he said Mr Cremin had not only helped him but helped thousands of others like him down through the y ears.

The councillor proposed that Kerry County Council write to Mr Cremin to thank him for his years of service to the people of Kerry.
