Festive treat for all as pupils delight in Christmas concerts
YOU could not help but smile ear-to-ear last Thursday as the infants and pre-school pupils of Moyderwell Mercy Primary School staged their fantastic Christmas concerts for parents and teachers.
It’s certainly been a busy few weeks behind the scenes as teachers and pupils ran through the final preparations for the big day.
Eager parents braved the cold, too, as they lined up outside the hall to secure the best seats on the day to view their little ones in action.
Music, singing and dancing were the orders on a hugely successful and entertaining day for all involved.
The morning started off with a number of wonderful violin performances from students before the littlest pre-school children emerged – with adorable Santa hats and reindeer antlers, of course – to huge cheers from the large contingent of family and parents gathered in the school hall.
It was truly a whole-school effort as everyone from teachers, SNAs and fellow pupils made sure that everything ran smoothly.
The big names were all there, from angels and the three wise men to stable owners along, with Mary and Joseph, of course, also.
Ms Roza’s senior infants were brilliant as they performed the story of the ‘ Prickly Hay’, based on the Nativity scene.
Ms Geaney’s juniors were equally as excellent as they performed ‘Angel’s Express’, which was again based on the nativity.
A wonderful musical number followed this as the senior infants under Ms O’Sullivan and Ms Daly performed a catchy array of Christmas songs.
While the pupils were undoubtedly the stars of the show, a special mention must of course go to the teachers – who were on their knees singing and dancing along with their students.
