Ryall hails impact of the Parnells

-

TRALEE CBS joint-manager Mark Ryall (Tralee Parnells) referred to the impact which Tralee Parnells have had in terms of the strength of the code in the schools, while he was also, quite obviously, delighted with this particular result, given, the disappointments they have had in recent years.

“It was tough, the scoreline probably doesn’t do justice to the effort Mounthawk put in. The boys stuck at it and kept going. We are on the road a long time, six years, it has been building since I started Tralee Parnells with David Brick, Dermot Reen and all the lads.

“Today is proof of that, two Tralee teams in a final. Tralee Parnells has backed it to the end for the boys in the school. We were beaten in an under sixteen and-a-half final and we were beaten in a final last year.

“It wasn’t nice last year, because it kind of slipped away. Defeat I suppose drives it on a small bit, and, today proved that. Just a word to Tadgh [O Sullivan] and the lads in Mounthawk.

“Tadgh has massive work put in with the boys, credit to him and Muiris [Delaney] there as well, this year and I would be good buddies with Tadgh. They will have their day, they won under fifteen, they will be very strong next year, the year after as well.

“Football is always going to be number one [in the school], we will throw the shoulder to the wheel to that again on Monday night, and, go for the Corn Ui Mhuirí quarter-final.

“We are in the basketball All Ireland semi final as well, so whatever moves we will support it below and give it everything and that’s just basically the way it is in The Green.

“Darragh O’Donoghue, Tadgh Brick, and Darragh Reen, they are all good hurlers. It’s not only them, it’s a team, there’s twenty five, twenty six involved, everybody buys into it.

“Different fellows on different days do different things, that’s what you need to win games and I am just delighted for the boys. A huge effort has been put in over the last number of years. It’s nice to go out with a medal. A Munster medal is a huge achievement to win.”
