CHRISTMAS GREETINGS

Wishing all readers, a very happy Christmas and Best Wishes for 2019. area, into a Greenhouse.

In the past month we have acquired topsoil from the new graveyard in Clogher with the help of Kerry County Council. On site we have replaced the old steel sheeting on the yard side of the shed with clear polycarbonate panels to allow the suns light and heat in. Thanks to Lixnaw Fabrications for their help with this work. Internally the work continues, and now the bench tops have all been cut to size, edge routed, sealed and painted. Thanks to Dermot Nolan of Lixnaw Mens Shed for his help with this aspect of the project. From now until the Christmas holidays we plan to paint the concrete floor, erect shelving and finish our under-bench trolleys for the tubs that hold our soil. We should then be ready for action in our new greenhouse in January. Work to the yard will start then with installation of paving, raised planting beds, seating, fences and a pergola over the entrance to the yard.

When the shed becomes operational and following completion of the Garda Vetting process we aim to provide (a) some gardening education to local schoolchildren with the support of the schools, and (b) a social outlet for anyone who would like to get involved. Apart from improving the area aesthetically, providing some gardening tips and having a social outlet, we hope to support the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan.

If you are interested in finding out more, or better still getting involved, call us at 087 637 0738 or email us at lixnawpollinatorproject@ .
