Kellihers gives support to NOVAS
FOR the second consecutive winter, Kelliher Feed and Agricultural Supplies has donated 50 cents from every bag of Superglow Extra Smokeless coal to Novas services in Kerry, raising €600 in total.
This campaign aimed to encourage people to convert to smokeless fuel while also recognising and responding to the current homeless crisis.
Novas is the largest provider of homeless services in Kerry, with a range of programmes throughout the county.
While Arlington Lodge in Tralee is the best known service, they also support single individuals and families through ‘Housing First’, which encourages people to secure and maintain independent accommodation with intensive supports.
The organisation also has a number of smaller residential services and social housing units that are tenanted by formerly homeless individuals and families, scattered throughout the county.
Novas’ Head of Policy and Communications Una Burns, when asked of the initiative, said “we are extremely grateful to Kelleher Feed and Agricultural Supplies, Ballymullen, Tralee, for donating 50 cents from each bag of Superglow Extra smokeless coal to Novas.
“Wintertime can often be extremely difficult for people without a secure place to call home.
“This initiative helps us to support more people in Kerry.
“During 2018 we have extended our service in the region in response to increasing demand, and we would like to thank businesses like Kelliher’s for their generosity, which enables us to support more vulnerable people in local communities throughout Kerry.”
John Lynch of Kelliher Agricultural Feed explained that he was “delighted to support Novas and people who were experiencing homelessness locally in Kerry.”
He also thought the initiative was a “good way of encouraging people to swap to smokeless fuel”.
Kelliher Feed and Agricultural Supplies is located in Ballymullen, Tralee. Orders can be made by phone on (066) 7123446.
