Listowel set for lively talk on political history

THE north Kerry men and women who have made their mark on the national political stage over the past 100 years will be the focus of a talk by the authors of a new book at the Seanchaí Centre in Listowel on Thursday, January 17, at 8pm.

The authors of A Century of Politics in the Kingdom, Gordon Revington and Owen O’Shea, will discuss the TDs and senators from the north of the county who served in the Oireachtas since 1919 as well as some of the significan­t political events in north Kerry over the course of the century.

Figures such as Stephen Fuller, John and Gerard Lynch, Dan Moloney, Patrick Finucane, Kit Ahern, Ned O’Sullivan, Eamonn Kissane, Jimmy Deenihan, and Dan Kiely will all feature as will Tarbert’s Jennifer Musa who became an MP in Pakistan.

The illustrate­d lecture will also reference Kerry’s first four TDs, including Listowel’s James Crowley, on this, the centenary of the establishm­ent of the First Dáil. Admission to the event is free and all are welcome.
