180 jobs could be created in Sci Tech

The Kerryman (North Kerry) - - NEWS -

IT’S been claimed that Kerry’s science, technology and engineering sector could create up to 180 new jobs in 2019.

The claim from Kerry SciTech is based on a survey that the local science and technology promotional network recently carried out among its members.

The network’s members include leading Kerry firms such as Fexco, Dairymaster, TriCel and Aspen Grove Solutions, as well as international firms JRI America, Astellas and Liebherr that have operations in the county.

Eighty per cent of companies surveyed by Kerry SciTech said that they would create more positions in Kerry if the talent was readily available.

Companies that said they do plan to recruit extra staff in Kerry this year include Dairymaster, Astellas, Bioatlantis, Diomac, Fexco, Fluirse, Listal, Netfeasa, PulseLearning, TriCel, Tweak, ViClarity and Wazp.

In the press release issued to promote the results of the Sci Tech survey, the only company to expressly outline its 2019 recruitment plans was Dairymaster, which will create 50 new jobs at its Causeway headquarters according to its CEO Professor Edmond Harty .

Kerry SciTech said that JRI America is currently hiring QA Engineers, systems engineers and a number of cybersecurity-related positions including threat analysts in Tralee, though the number of new positions at the firm was not specified.

Interested candidates can view details of positions that are currently open and find out how to apply at www.kerryscitech.com. Currently 32 positions – including 14 at JRI and six each at Dairymaster and Fexco – are advertised on the website.

Fexco had already announced it will be creating 175 new jobs – the majority of them in Kerry – over the next three years.
