TWO im­por­tant items were cir­cu­lated to clubs ear­lier this week. First clubs were emailed the Draft of the 2019 Fix­ture Cal­en­dar.

Please note this is still only draft and may be changed fol­low­ing meet­ings with the Hurl­ing Clubs on Wed­nes­day night and a CCC meet­ing on Thurs­day.

On Fri­day next Jan­uary 11, the Chair­man of the CCC hopes to send out the fi­nal draft which will then go be­fore the first meet­ing of the County Com­mit­tee on Mon­day, Jan­uary 21 for rat­i­fi­ca­tion.

Any­one with any ob­ser­va­tions is asked to sub­mit them to the County Sec­re­tary be­fore this Thurs­day.

The sec­ond item cir­cu­lated was the Credit Union County Se­nior Foot­ball League Fix­tures for Di­vi­sions 1, 2, 3 & 4.

Divi­sion 5 won’t be con­firmed un­til CCC has met with prospec­tive ‘B’ teams.

The CCC will then make a rec­om­men­da­tion to the County Com­mit­tee and the County Com­mit­tee will make the fi­nal de­ci­sion.

Ref­er­ees In Ser­vice Course

TRAIN­ING cour­ses for Ref­er­ees are go­ing ahead Wed­nes­day, Jan­uary 16 at 8pm, in the Kerry GAA Cen­tre of Ex­cel­lence, Cur­rans and on Fri­day 18 at 8pm in Austin Stack Park.

These cour­ses are for trained foot­ball ref­er­ees. The ref­er­ees com­mit­tee will be run­ning an In-Ser­vice Course for Hurl­ing Ref­er­ees and a Foun­da­tion Course for new ref­er­ees in Fe­bru­ary.

Phys­i­cal Train­ing takes place ev­ery Wed­nes­day night in the Kerry GAA Cen­tre of Ex­cel­lence, Cur­rans at 6.30pm.

This is open to all ref­er­ees and at­ten­dees are asked to bring both run­ners and foot­ball boots

Sup­port­ers Club

THE Kerry GAA Sup­port­ers club An­nual So­cial takes place on Jan­uary 19 in the Bal­ly­garry House Ho­tel.

It was a suc­cess­ful 2018 for Kerry teams on the play­ing fields and the Kerry GAA sup­port­ers club will hon­our those achieve­ments. The high­light was the five in-a-row All Ire­land Mi­nor Ti­tles.

Cap­tain Paul O’Shea and for­mer mi­nor team man­ager Peter Keane will be present along with the Kerry Ju­nior team man­ager Jimmy Keane and team cap­tain Kieran Mur­phy.

The Un­der 21 hurlers claimed the All-Ire­land ‘B’ ti­tle and cap­tain Ja­son Dig­gins and Man­ager Ian Brick will also be present. Also in­vited are Seán Weir who se­cured a place on the Joe McDon­agh team of the year along with 2018 foot­ball All Star David Clif­ford. Spe­cial guest on the night will be for­mer Ra­dio Kerry broad­caster Gary O’Sul­li­van. Tick­ets for this event are now on sale from club mem­bers.

The Kerry Sup­port­ers Club league travel 2019 is just around the cor­ner. The first away game for the Kerry Se­nior Foot­ballers is away to Ca­van on the sec­ond of Fe­bru­ary.

This is an overnight stay for the Kerry Sup­port­ers Club and any­one go­ing to this game with the club can book with full pay­ment on Jan­uary 21 in the Bal­ly­garry House Ho­tel or in the Lis­towel Arms Ho­tel at 8.30pm.

Scór

THE County Fi­nal of Scór na nÓg Trath na gCeist is sched­uled for Fri­day, Jan­uary 18 at 7 pm at the Cen­tre of Ex­cel­lence Cur­rans. As Scór cel­e­brates 50 years of ac­tiv­i­ties this sea­son all clubs in Kerry are in­vited and en­cour­aged to par­tic­i­pate in this team event of Trath na gCeist.

The Quiz for­mat is ten rounds of eight ques­tions on top­ics such as GAA mat­ters, Cul­ture, His­tory, Ge­og­ra­phy and cur­rent Af­fairs. The win­ning team qual­i­fies for the All Ire­land Scór na nÓg Fi­nals, which is sched­uled for Satur­day, Fe­bru­ary 23 in Castle­bar County Mayo.

Teams of four, un­der 17 years on Jan­uary 1, 2019 and reg­is­tered club mem­bers are el­i­gi­ble to en­ter.

The Mun­ster Fi­nals of Scór na nÓg are sched­uled for Sun­day, Jan­uary 20 at Cap­po­quin, Co. Water­ford where Kerry will be rep­re­sented by the fol­low­ing clubs; Spa in both Rince Foirne and Set Dancing, Martin Larkin of Sneem in Solo Singing, Gearoid Evans of Keel in Aithriseoireacht, Na Gaeil in Leiriú Staitse, Glen­flesk in Bal­lad Group, and Fin­uge in In­stru­men­tal Mu­sic.

Re­minder re Se­nior Scór dates – District Board Fi­nals to be com­pleted by Fe­bru­ary 3 with the County Fi­nals sched­uled for Satur­day, Fe­bru­ary 16.
