Focus turns to Cushendall after defeat by Premier in Munster league

KERRY’S interest in the Munster senior hurling league ended last Saturday when they were defeated by Tipperary on a 4-20 to 1-14 scoreline at Nenagh.

Their next competitiv­e game will be in Round 1, Division 2A of the 2019 Allianz Hurling League on Saturday, January 26 when they face a long away trip to Antrim. That game goes ahead in Cushendall.

Further rounds will be against Westmeath on Sunday, February 3 at Austin Stack Park, 2pm; Mayo on Sunday, February 17 at Austin Stack Park, 2pm; away to London on Saturday, February 23 at McGovern Park, Ruislip, 1pm; Meath on Sunday, March 3 at Fitzgerald Stadium, Killarney (as part of a double bill with the Kerry v Monaghan game).

ST Patricks, East Kerry Hurling Club has elected the following officers for 2019: President: Dan Kelleher, Vice Presidents: Tom Holohan and Pat O’Brien. Chairman: Garry O’Halloran Secretary: Pat Clifford. Treasurer: Michael Gleeson. Vice Chairman and PRO: Martin Mulready. Senior Team Trainer: Paul Kiely. South Kerry board rep: Denis Coffey. East Kerry Hurling Officer: Garry O’Halloran.

The annual pre-season planning meeting between the Hurling Clubs and Kerry County Board will take place on this Wednesday, January 9 at 8pm at the Pavilion, Austin Stack Park Tralee.

All clubs are expected to be represente­d. The main items on the agenda will be the 2019 fixtures calendar and amalgamati­ons for 2019 at minor & Under 21 levels.

The AGMs of Ballyduff and Ballyheigu­e clubs will take place on this Friday, January 11 in their respective clubrooms at 8pm. The Annual Convention of the North Kerry Hurling Board is fixed for Thursday, January 17 at Kilmoyley. Officer nomination­s and motions to the Secretary Joe Walsh by this Sunday.

Crotta O’Neills Hurling Club will hold a victory social on this Saturday, January 12 at Ballyroe Heights Hotel to mark their 2018 County Under-21 Hurling Championsh­ip win.

On the following Saturday, January 19, Abbeydorne­y will celebrate their 2018 County Minor Hurling Championsh­ip victory with a victory social at the same venue.
