Headleys Bud goes fastest of all for Cotter

-

NICK E Cotter, of Knocknagoshel, strikes with plenty of regularity at the Oakview venue and he had the honour of supplying the fastest winner at the Oakview venue on Saturday night in Headleys Bud, which clocked a quite superb 28.72 (.10 slow) in the last of nine races (A2 525).

The November ’16 daughter of Aero Majestic and Headleys Ann, which ran from trap 4 and was a 2/1 shot in the betting with the only bookmaker again in attendance, Patsy Browne, was led into the first bend by the Brendan Maunsell-trained Peters Queen, but she fairly powered into the third bend to be in control rounding it and she raced home five lengths ahead of Peters Queen for what was her eighth victory from 17 starts.

One other winner managed to get inside 29.00 seconds and that was Auntie Noelle (6/4) in the seventh race (A4 525). This lady had enjoyed absolutely no luck in running in mid-December, but it was a very different story this time from the same box – trap 3.

She took a real flier from it and totally dominated thereafter, finishing no less than seven lengths ahead of 5/4 favourite, Stormy Amie, in a hot 28.87 for A4 class.

Present to watch the victory from Galway was her joint owner, Noelle Divilly, wife of former ICC President, Brian Divilly (the other joint owner is her niece, Olivia Roche, of Banteer).

It was a very good night overall for bitches, with six of them winning on the nine-race card.

The other winners were: Paddys Tally Ho, 18.23; Cadence Falls, 29.41; No News Now, 18.10; Wompa Woman, 29.94; Kilmore Gold, 29.22; Rathronan Blitz, 18.07; Labana Sadie, 29.13.

SUNDAY SIS MEETING RUNS of 28.76 by Pawsfordell and 28.83 by Helenas Joker stood out at Sunday’s meeting, while a double was recorded by Mountshannon, Co Clare, owner/ trainer, Pat Curtin, with Beslow Van Gogh (29.04) and World Cup (29.22). Other winners: Pony Anna, 29.34; Glengort Bolt, 18.00; Seomra Skip, 28.82; Devon Gunner, 29.41.
