Jack O’Sullivan tournament a big success again

-

Asdee Rovers 4 Sporting Listowel 0

THIS was a game both sides needed to win to try and move up the table and a strong second half performance by Asdee gave them a comfortable win at the end.

After a scoreless first half Asdee took control of the game in the second half and goals from Darren Russell, Joe Lynch, Darragh Keane and Conor Carmody secured the three points.

Atletico Ardfert 2 Ballyhar Dynamos 0

ATHLETICO Ardfert halted table toppers Ballyhar Dynamos great run of form on Sunday with a great team performance securing the three points. Trevor Wallace and Nathan O’Driscoll scored for the winners.

Listowel Celtic B 0 Rattoo Rovers 3

RATTOO Rovers rich vein of form continued with a comfortable win over Listowel Celtic B.

Like many times in the past they made the scoring a family affair with brothers, Aidan, Mikey and Padraig Boyle scoring their three goals.

This win moves Rattoo up to second in the table six points behind leaders Ballyhar Dynamos with three games in hand.

DENNY DIVISION 1B Inter Kenmare 4 Castlemaine United 3

INTER Kenmare are the new table toppers in this division after a great win over Castlemaine United in a very competitive game. Boki Nikic (2), Joshua Reeve and Josh Crowley Holland scored for Inter while Kieran O’Carroll (2), and Jerome Flynn scored for Castlemaine.

St Brendans Park 2 Killorglin B 2

KILLORGLIN got off to a flyer in this game with Aidan O’Sullivan putting them ahead early on and they made it 2-0 in the seventh minute with a fine strike by Jamie Cunningham.

However, The Park brought themselves back into the game with a David Courtney goal and it was 2-1 at half-time. Killorglin had an opportunity to put clear daylight between the sides in the 67th minute when Anthony Abogunrin was adjudged to be fouled in the box leading to a penalty kick.

However, uncharacteristically Seán Costello just pulled the spot kick wide. Eight minutes later The Park equalised with a Graham O’Leary goal.

That’s the way the tie finished and Killorglin maybe a little bit disappointed not securing a win given they held a two-goal advantage.

Killarney Athletic B 1 Classic FC B 3

CLASSIC won this game with a bit to spare with their goals coming from Mark Holden, Derry Aherne and James Kelly. Daniel O’Sullivan was the Athletic scorer. CLUBS turned out in force to support the fourth annual Jack O’Sullivan indoor Soccer Tournament which was held at Ballybunion Community Centre on Saturday.

The tournament is in memory of the late Jack O’Sullivan of Beale who sadly passed away suddenly four years ago at the age of fourteen. Jack was a very popular young man in the area who loved playing soccer and riding horses and his death at such a young age rocked the North Kerry area in general at the time

Hosted by Ballybunion FC and LB Rovers the tournament has been growing in popularity over the past three years and as well as the usual senior tournament an Under 9, Under 13 and Under 17 competition was added this year.

Spokesperson for the organisers of the tournament, Eoin O’Mahony, said they were delighted with the response to the fund-raiser both by the clubs who supported the event and local business people who made donations.

Over €2,150 was raised on the day and it will be donated to the Irish Heart Foundation with a small donation going to three local soccer clubs.
