ASDEE
LATE JERRY HOLLY
A cloud of sadness decended over the community on New Year’s Eve when the news broke of the death in tragic cicumstances of Jerry Holly of Ballylongfod and formerly of Tullahinell, Asdee.
A highly respected member of the local community Jerry came fom a very well known and highly respected local family.
The Holly grew up in Tullahinell and went to Asdee National School but the family moved to Ballylongford many years ago where they again made many new friends and neighbours.
The esteem in which Jerry and his family are held locally was reflected in the huge and widely representative congragations that tuned out on Wednesday evening for the removal of his remains from Lynch’s Funeral Home in Ballylongfod to the local church and again at the Requiem Mass and internment which took place to Lislaughtin cemetery.
Deepect sympathy is extended to his fiancé Lavinia and her daughter Erika, his parents Mike Joe and Mary, brothers John, Michael, Raymond and Paudie, sisters Mary Ann and Johanna and all other family members and relatives.
SOCCER
Asdee Rovers got back to their winning ways at Craughdarrig Park on Sunday with a great 4 0 win over Sporting Listowel.
This was a game both sides needed to win to try and move up the table and a strong second half performance by Asdee gave them a comfortable win at the end.
After a scoreless first half Asdee took control of the game in the second half and goals from Darren Russell, Joe Lynch, Darragh Keane and Conor Carmody secured the 3 points.
