Local students urged to try engineering
ENGINEERS Ireland are calling on engineering firms, companies big and small, the local authority and colleges in the Kerry area to get involved in engineers week 2019 - a seven day programme celebrating the work of engineers.
The event takes place second to the eighth of March and is co ordinated on a national level by engineers Ireland STEPS programme
The event –now in its thirteenth year – is held to promote engineering as a career and the importance of engineers in Ireland.
The week encourages students in primary and post primary schools to explore the world of engineering and the diverse career options it offers.
Calling for increased industry support Caroline Spillane Director General of Engineers Ireland said “engineers in Ireland have never been more in demand.
“Our recent survey of members have predicted that over six thousand new jobs will be created in the engineering sector this year”.
