DUAGH/LYRE COMMUNITY GAMES

ART/HANDWRITING

Duagh/Lyre area held their art and handwriting competition last Friday evening at Duagh NS. There was a large turnout for this event and competitors from u8 to u16. The results are gone to a judge outside our area and the results when known will be passed to all who participated in their respective National school. Everyone who took part will be recognised for their efforts regardless of the result. This event was a healthy event and all participants were treated to fruit and water on the night which went down a treat.

INDOOR SOCCER

On Saturday last the girls u10 indoor soccer Community Games competition took place in Duagh Sports Complex with six teams played in a round robin format giving plenty of exciting games. Format 3 pts for a win & 1 for a draw. All games were exciting with plenty of skill on view. In round 1, Duagh/Lyre girls played with plenty of confidence and skill to see off Miltown/Listry by 5 goals to nil. Kenmare and Listowel drew 1 all, Duagh/Lyre saw off Spa Fenit/Barrow 4-1. Round 2, Duagh/Lyre continued on their winning ways with a 1 nil victory over a strong Ballyduff team. Kenmare v Spa Fenit/Barrow 3 all, Listowel defeated Miltown/Listry 2 nil. This put Duagh/Lyre top of the table with six and Listowel in second place on four points.

Round 3: Here Listowel got the better of Duagh/Lyre team by 4-1, this game was a lot closer than the score line with Listowel getting two early goals and the
