Have your say on pedestrianisation

- By SINEADKELLEHER

THE business community and the general public in Killarney are being asked to give their views on the how the day-time pedestrianisation of Plunkett Street operated ahead of any possible pedestrianisation plans.

The street was pedestrianised from 11am to 7am on a trial basis from Saturday, March 31 to Monday, April 9, as well as from Friday May 11 to Monday May 21 and from Friday June 29 to Monday, September 3.

Mayor of Killarney Cllr John Sheahan said the council want to hear the public’s views before any decision on the more permanent pedestrianisation of the street.

“We voted last March to introduce the trials of pedestrianisation on Plunkett Street, with the intention of assessing the impact on pedestrians, shoppers, motorists, and businesses. I hope that people will engage with it before we, as elected councillors, decide on any future pedestrianisation system which might apply,’ he said.

Anyone with a submission, comment or observation should email killarneymunicipaldistrict@kerrycoco. ie using Plunkett Street in the message line or write to the Killarney Municipal District Office in Killarney at the town hall before the Friday, February 22 deadline.
