Neven Maguire pays much-appreciate­d visit to Iveragh as part of ‘Neven’s Irish Seafood Trails’

NEVEN Maguire, the County Cavan celebrity chef and television personalit­y, featured on RTÉ One television on Wednesday, February 6, as he visited the Iveragh area.

This episode of Neven’s Irish Seafood Trails depicted his crossing to Valentia on the car ferry; and a visit to the Valentia Coastguard Radio Station, where the Divisional Controller, John Dreaper, illustrate­d to him the workings and history of the Station.

He then crossed back by the car ferry to Renard Point to enter Quinlan’s Fish factory, where Liam Quinlan explained to him the art and skill in smoking salmon.

He also visited Quinlan’s retail fish shop in Cahersivee­n.

He also made a visit to O’Neill’s Point Bar and Restaurant, where the proprietor, EJ O’Neill, presented a display of fish cooking.

He then visited The Smuggler’s Restaurant in Waterville, where proprietor Henry Hunt also gave a display of fish cooking.

Subsequent­ly, he was shown around the Waterville Sea Synergy Marine Aware Centre by Lucy Hunt. The programme depicted the area in a very positive way.
