All right - it’s the Young Americans!
IT was a case of mission accomplished for this group of Young Americans as they performed with their peers from Gaelcholáiste Chiarraí on the Rose Hotel stage on Thursday in an eagerly-anticipated show.
The Young Americans - presumably named after the David Bowie classic hit – had set out from the far side of the Atlantic on a mission to ‘ help other students throughout the world to attain self-confidence, self-esteem, and respect for others through music, dance, and performance.’
They were faciliated by the Gaelcholáiste’s Transition Years, as the Young Americans teamed up with the Young Irish to deliver a vibrant and catchy musical before a large crowd at The Rose Hotel on Thursday. It made for a busy period for the students, TY co-ordinator Michelle D’Altuin said: “No sooner had they put away Junk Couture scissors than they were en route to the TY Drama Festival where they staged three plays. Without pausing for breath they then rehearsed and performed with the Young Americans, a group famous for their immersive and energetic workshops.”
