Waterville hosts Cumann na mBunscol Beach Run

THE first Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Beach Run took place in Waterville last Thursday with 150 children taking part. There were four very competitiv­e races and it was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

The 5th and 6th class boys individual winner Adam Quigley Scoil Derarca Valentia. The 5th and 6th class race was won by girls Katie O’Connell, Scoil Saidhbhín.

The 3rd/4th class boys title was claimed by Cormac Houlihan Scoil Derarca Valentia. The 3rd/4th class girls race was won by Muireann Teahan, Aghatubrid NS. Scoil Derarca Valentia took first place in the 5th/ 6th class boys while St Finians Waterville won the other three team events.

All the winners and team participan­ts now look forward to the Allianz Cumann na mBunscol county finals in Caherslee this Wednesday at 4pm. Prizes were given to first three individual­s and first three teams in each race.
