Rattoo Rovers move three clear

DENNY DIVISION 1A

Rattoo Rovers 3 Asdee Rovers 0

RATTOO Rovers moved three points clear at the top of the table after victory over Asdee Rovers at Mounthawk Park on Saturday evening.

While the Ballyduff side were worthy winners at the end Asdee had plenty of scoring chances in the first half and if they had grabbed a goal it would have been a much tighter game.

Once more it was the Boyle brothers who stole the show with Padraig scoring a brace while his brother Aidan scored the other goal. On current form Rattoo are the team to beat in this division.

DENNY DIVISION 1B

Windmill United 1 St Brendans Park 2

THE Park moved five points clear at the top of the table after a good win over Windmill United.

Sebastian Vasiu put the Tralee side ahead with a well taken goal and Padraig McCannon doubled their lead with a superb volley from the verge of the box. Windmill rallied admirably and they brought themselves back into the game with a great goal by Wayne Conway.

They piled on the pressure to try and engineer an equaliser but The Park defence well marshalled by the superb Aaron O’Connor held firm to see out a very important win.

If The Park win their final game against Classic it might be enough to secure their place in the final. They are now five points clear of joint second placed sides Castlegregory and Inter Kenmare.

The Park and Inter have just one game left to play while the other joint second placed side Castlegregory have three games left to play so they have their destiny in their own hands.

On present standings The Park and Castlegregory are favourites to make the decider. Unfortunately The Park will lose a few very good players to the Kerry under 19 squad and will weaken their squad ahead of a possible final.

Classic FC B 2 Killorglin B 1

WITH Classic two points below Killorglin at the start of the day it was important that Killorglin take something from the game. They could have been a goal up and Classic a man down in the first minute when Aiden O’Sullivan was brought down just outside the box but neither materialised.

Straight afterwards Classic went ahead when Derry Ahern headed home at the back post from a free kick. Killorglin were playing against a very strong breeze and they got themselves back in the game in the 22nd minute when Jack O’Sullivan headed home from a corner.

Classic regained the lead just before the break with another great finish by Derry Aherne to make it 2-1 at the break.

Killorglin upped the game a small bit in the second half with the wind behind them and their best chance fell to Anthony Abogunrin in the last five minutes from a great cross by Ryan O’Riordan who had only the Classic keeper top beat but he made a vital block to deny him.
