BEST known for her time on ‘Irish Pictorial Weekly’, ‘Bridget and Eamon’ and ‘Savage Eye’, Waterford comedian Eleanor Tiernan is back on the comedy circuit and is now looking for her kudos.

Not kudos on all that she’s achieved though, but kudos on the fact that she has achieved this level of success all without what she describes as “making a personal porno for public consumption.”

‘Success Without A Sextape’ is the title of Eleanor’s newest comedy show and tour - which she will kick off in the The Blasket bar in Tralee on February 21 - and through which she aims to explore the rewards for removing your clothing.

“Basically, I don’t think that I’m getting enough credit for trying to succeed in life without doing a sex tape,” Eleanor laughed.

“The people who do sex tapes are kind of like the equivalent to people using performing enhancing drugs; they’re making it easy on themselves unlike the rest of us poor schmuck’s who are going around trying to do things the hard way.”

“So I think that we should be celebrating the fact that there’s value in not doing a sextape and still succeeding. I hope some people will agree with me,” she laughed.

Eleanor says that throughout the show, she will be highlighting and joking about all the things that people are missing out on by not doing a sextape, all while allowing her to expand her show to talk about the social-media dominated world that we find ourselves living in today.

“Some of the things that I will joke about and discuss are going to be things that we get to think about a lot, but not necessarily talk about,” Eleanor continued.

Now, of course, you can’t think of words ‘sextape’ without a certain member of the famous Kardashian family coming to mind and when I put this to Eleanor, she surprisingly does not go down the usual anti-Kardashian road traversed by most comedians.

“Well look, I have to give Kim Kardashian a lot of credit. She’s worked out something very smart and has obviously achieved quite a lot through it. We’re not doing well if we are criticising her and calling her stupid, because she’s definitely not stupid.”

“If we were all to release sextapes though in the hope of building a career out of it, I think the world would be very different,” she laughed.

With the start of her tour just over a week away now, Eleanor says that she is excited to get going and is looking forward to getting back down to Kerry.

“I haven’t been down to Kerry in a while now so I am very much looking forward to getting back. I’ve always had a little bit of a grá for The Kingdom. I think it’s something to do with the footballers ye have down there. The Kerry footballers were on the television just at the right time for me,” Eleanor joked.

“I’ve mostly performed in Tralee but I did the INEC before a long time ago. Most of the time I’ve spent in Kerry has been leisure time or on holidays but I’m here on business now. This time it’s serious,” she laughed.

Tickets for her show ‘Success Without a Sextape’ are currently on sale from the ‘Blasket Tralee’ Facebook page and are set to cost €12.
