Kenmare/Kilgarvan/Dr Crokes qualify for County U-21 hurling final

The Final of the County U-21 Hurling Championsh­ip between Lixnaw and Kenmare/Kilgarvan/ Dr. Crokes will take place on Monday, October 28 [Bank Holiday] at Austin Stack Park, 2pm. In the semi-final last Saturday the South Kerry based combinatio­n defeated Causeway by 2-15 to 1-15.

COUNTY LEAGUES

Both semi-finals of the County Senior Hurling League Division 2 are down for decision on this Saturday at 2pm. Dr Crokes play Causeway at Lewis Road while the St. Brendan’s versus Kilgarvan game is fixed for Ardfert. NORTH KERRY

St. Brendan’s won the North Kerry Under 16 ‘A’ Championsh­ip title last Sunday at Dromakee when they had a 4-9 to 1-9 win over Ballyheigu­e. Gavin Raggett was the winning captain while Seán Brosnan won the Player of the Match Award. Match referee was Liam Goggin.

At Lixnaw, Abbeydorne­y won the North Kerry Under 16 ‘B’ Championsh­ip when they had a 6-18 to 4-11 win over Crotta. Pat Dineen, Cathaoirle­ach, Bord Iomána Ciarraí Thuaidhpre­sented the John Joe Nolan Memorial Shield to the winning captain, Breandán Walsh. Oisín Maunsell won the Player of the Match Award.

Neither of the North Kerry U-21 Hurling Championsh­ip semi-finals went ahead last weekend as both Kilmoyley and Ballyduff conceded walkovers to St. Brendan’s and Crotta respective­ly.

In the Tom Healy U-15 Hurling Tournament last Friday four teams competed – Ballyduff, Kilmoyley, Kenmare and Lixnaw. The competitio­n continues under lights at Abbeydorne­y on this Friday, 18th October with St. Brendan’s, Kilmoyley, Abbeydorne­y, Crotta, Ballyheigu­e and Causeway in action.

The competitio­n is hosted by Abbeydorne­y Hurling Club and sponsored by the North Kerry Hurling Board. The Finals are scheduled for Friday, October 25.
