PRO Buckley: We pride ourselves on inclusiveness

-

THE new club PRO Brendan Buckley says he is enjoying his new post and is doing his best to ensure the club gets as much publicity as possible.

“I was elected at the AGM and it is a learning experience, but with a man like Tadhg Brosnan at my side I always have great advice at my disposal as he has a wealth of experience behind him after two decades of service to the club,” Brosnan says.

“I have been involved with the club with the past six years and by in large have been coaching kids from under 5 to under 14. We have a very big club base and as well as players from the immediate area we also have players from Gneeviguilla, Rathmore and a few from North Cork.”

He says his aspirations looking ahead is making sure to build a bright future for the club and ensure that players are proud of their club and take pride is wearing the club jersey.

“We pride ourselves on inclusiveness and anyone that wants to play with the team is assured a warm welcome. Developments in information technology have been enormous over the past decade and now clubs must be prepared and able to use this to promote the club. Social media is now very big and we can get results of games and even live coverage of game through this process. Also we will have to stay in touch with any new media source that comes on stream and use it to our benefit.

“Media is changing at a rapid pace and clubs need keep abreast with anything that can be used to their advantage. The recent pandemic has clearly shown that personal health comes before any code of sport but everyone will be looking forward to the KDL getting up and running again. We have qualified for the Division 2A League final and obviously we can’t wait for the game to be played fingers crossed.”
