COISTE NA NÓG

Down Memory Lane:2015: The Under-11 hurling team was one of the few who had a competitive game this week, facing Lixnaw in a real cracker in the Ballyduff top pitch on Friday evening. The home side came away with a twopoint win in a 12 goal shootout. It was clear to all in attendance that this rivalry will last for some years to come. On Sunday, the Under-16s had a dual sport friendly against Limerick side, Kilteely. After separate games of both hurling and football, Ballyduff managed to run up a higher overall score while demonstrating the strength of the club in both codes.

2018: The U12s had a busy weekend with games in both codes. They played Lixnaw away on Friday night, both sides played some great hurling and the halftime score of 1 - 5 to 1 - 4 showed how evenly match the two sides were, however Ballyduff kicked it up a notch in the second half and the final score was 3 - 14 to 2 - 7 in favour of Ballyduff. The U14s started their week on a good note when they travelled to Na Gael on Monday and despite missing some players due to injury, they managed to draw with the home side.

They faced Knock/Brosna/Duagh at home on Wednesday night in the League semi-final. This was a hard battle against tough opponents, and unfortunately it was Knock/Brosna/Duagh that progressed to the final. Special thanks to everyone that supported the Feile bucket collection on Saturday, and all the parents, players and mentors that gave up their time to do the collection. to the U16 hurlers and their mentors that won their League final against Ballyheigue on Tuesday night. Ballyduff had scored 0 - 6 before Ballyheigue responded and at half-time the score was 0 - 10 to 0 - 4, with Dylan Moriarty showing his usual free-taking accuracy. A late rally from Ballyheigue made for a tense closing to the game, but Ballyduff managed to hold on and secure the victory.

2019: The U11s are showing that they are a force to be reckoned with at this level with a comprehensive win over Lixnaw this week. The U12 footballers got their Division 3 County League campaign off to a good start on Sunday in John Mitchells. Both players and mentors knew that this was going to be a tougher assignment but both teams were more than capable of holding their own at this level and put in a great performance for the U12s to win on a score line of 3 - 16 to 4 - 9 and for the U11s to win 5 - 16 to 3 5.

The U14 hurlers were out on Tuesday night against Lixnaw in the county league. This group is still gathering momentum from their Feile win and Tuesday night was no exception winning on a score line of 6 - 11 to 0 - 3. There was no rest for the majority of this group as they were out again on Wednesday night in the Division 5 County League Final against An Gaeltacht. It really was a game of two halves with Ballyduff dominating the first half and going into halftime with a comfortable lead over their opponents.

However, the second half was a different affair with An Gaeltacht finding their feet and coming back to within striking distance. However the Ballyduff boys didn’t panic and were victorious at the final whistle on a score of 5 - 11 to 1 17.
