Anyone who has access to the internet can follow mass from St Mary’s Church, Dingle as follows: Monday and Tuesday at 10am; Wednesday 7.30pm, Thursday 10am, Friday 7.30pm; Saturday 8pm and Sunday 11.30am.

CHURCH OPENING
The Church of the Assumption in Mountcollins has now reopened on a daily basis. You can now visit in your own time for personal prayers only, as due to government restrictions no large gatherings are allowed. People are asked to abide by the guidelines such as social distancing and hand washing. The church will be sanitised on a daily basis and your cooperation is appreciated.
RECENT DEATHS
Sympathy is extended to the family of Anne O Connor, Dromtrasna, Abbeyfeale, Myshall, Co. Carlow and Canada who passed away in Killeline Nusing Home, Newcastlewest last week. Ann was wife of Diarmuid, formerly of Caherbeg, Moutcollins and over the years the couple were regular Mass goers to our local church. Anne was buried in Mountcollins cemetery after requiem Mass on Tuesday last. May she Rest in Peace. Sympathy is also extended to the family of Tom Collins, Meenkilly, Abbeyfeale who died suddenly last week. A member of the farming community, Tom would be well known in the parish as he was a milk supplier for many years to the local creamery. Burial took place in Abbeyfeale after requiem mass on Saturday last. May he Rest in Peace.

The many photographs featured on the page have bought back many happy memories, created much discussion and rekindled long lost friendships. LOCAL COMMUNITY NOTIFICATION
In line with the National Governments roadmap to ease the Covid-19 restrictions from May 18th ESB will be carrying out a phased return to work on the Kilpaddoge Knockanure 220 kV Cable site. Our return to site will be in compliance with the National Government Return to Work Safely Protocol COVID-19, Specific National Protocol for Employers and Workers
The Kilpaddoge Knockanure Underground Cable Project site will be reopening for works during the week beginning on the 18th of May. No significant works will take place during this week and any works will be focused on putting controls in place to address the risks associated with the Covid 19. Cable pulling will recommence between the Ahavoher Graveyard and Bambury’s cross on Monday the 25th of May, these works will be complete under a single lane closure using a STOP/GO or a traffic light traffic management system. Further notifications will issue during the week.
Fiddle Player, Emma O Leary who is originally from Mount. It was indeed fitting and appropriate that a fiddle player from Scartaglen should bring proceedings to a close. Well done to all the fiddle players who participated and congrats and very well done to PJ Teahan, Richard Nolan and Con Moynihan for bringing World Fiddle Day 2020 into our home. Let’s hope all musicians are back in Scartaglen le cunamh Dé in May next year for World Fiddle Day 2021.
NEW ARRIVAL
Congratulations and all best wishes are extended to Claire and Danny O Leary of Kilhoran, Knockrour East on the recent birth of their baby boy Paddy Denis, who was born in Kerry University Hospital and weighed 7 lbs 7 ozs at birth. Paddy is a little brother of Andy and Tadhg.
REOPENING OF CHURCHES
There was good news last weekend for those who like to visit their local church to say a quiet prayer or light a candle perhaps in so far as churches in the diocese will be open again. In the general Castleisland Parish area, Scartaglen church will be open on this Wednesday May 20th from 8am to 8pm and likewise with Cordal church. Castleisland church will be open on this Wednesday and Thursday from 11.30am to 8pm. In all instances social distancing will apply with hand sanitisers in operation and all visitors are asked to comply with instructions, directives and regulations to ensure safety for all in these difficult times.
MAY ROSARY
The Rosary will be recited at Castleisland Parish Church on each Wednesday evening during the month of May the month of Mary at 7pm and can be followed via live streaming.
LOOKING BACK
Some of the happenings in this locality thirty years ago (1990) were : the great Adriville Bridge won the Produce Stakes in Clonmel with a trap to line victory in 29.14 for owner Denis O Sullivan of Adriville and trainer Mossie O Connor of Gortgloss. This greyhound scooped the winners purse of €5,500 for his connections and this was the first leg of his Classic winning hat trick, the other two being The Irish Laurels at Cork and The Dundalk International.
Scartaglen Legion of Mary organised a trip to Knock Shrine in honour of Our Lady Queen of May. Mary Morris (nee O Sullivan) formerly of Adriville died in England and was pre-deceased by her husband Harold. Children from Scartaglen National School were confirmed by his Lordship Dr Diarmuid O Suilleabhain, Bishop of Kerry at a Confirmation Ceremony held in Castleisland Parish Church.
