Lyreacrompane’s Lorraine ready to send debut EP ‘Wildflower’ out into the world

TALENTED MUSICIAN READY TO FOLLOW UP ON SUCCESS OF FIRST SINGLE WITH EP LAUNCH THIS WEEK

LYREACROMPANE’S Lorraine Nash could obviously not have predicted that the title of her second single ‘Changing Tides’ – written many months before this COVID-19 crisis kicked off – would hold such meaning on so many levels during the current pandemic.

The song – available to listen to on Spotify now or wherever else you get your music – has been out in the world for a few weeks now, and it’s fair to say that it’s a case of so far, so good for talented musician’s sophomore song.

Speaking to last week about the song and the meaning behind it, Lorraine was delighted with how well it has been received so far.

“So, obviously, it was written well before all of this, but the whole theme behind the song is about learning to accept changes in our lives and trying to adapt to them instead of worrying about them, so I guess it kind of suits our current situation,” she said.

“It was released on May 16, and so far the reaction has been really great. I made the main RTÉ Radio 1 playlist on the first week, and I’ve had John Creedon playing it on his show too, as well as Cathal Murray and all those kind of people playing it too, so it’s been great,” Lorraine continued.

The song is described online as one in which Lorraine’s vocals emanate from soulful places, somewhere between Tracy Chapman and Gillian Welch; while she has also drawn comparisons to Sandi Thom and Antony and the Johnsons. Showcasing a diverse musical range, her vocal is perfectly suited to a palate that evokes Americana and folk tones.

In addition to releasing ‘Changing Tides’, Lorraine will this Friday launch her debut EP under the title ‘ Wildflower’.

Originally Lorraine’s EP was due to be launched with a gig in Coughlan’s in April but, alas, due to COVID-19, this was put off. Now though, Lorraine has come up with a new idea to mark the occasion this Friday, June 5.

“I’ll be doing a Hot Press live stream on the same day that it is being released, and I have the physical CDs as well, and they will be on sale on bandcamp as well for anyone who wants one,” she said.

Performing since she was seven years old, Lorraine is a talented pianist, guitar, harp, flute and violin player, skills that she has brought to the recording studio to create her debut EP.

Equally at home in Irish Trad, Lorraine’s original material brings an eclectic mix of music traditions to the table while ensuring that her own unique voice and élan comes through unmistakably.

‘Changing Tides’ was recorded, mixed and mastered in Clonmoyle East with Herring Ahern.

The link to pre-order or purchase the ‘ Wildflower’ EP is available on Lorraine’s ‘ Lorraine Nash Music’ Facebook page. The CD will cost €8.
