There’s never been a better time to take up golfing

-

FOR lovers of the game of golf it’s fair to say these are exciting times as courses throughout the county reopen following the lockdown of recent weeks.

The fresh air and outdoor aspect of golf make it an ideal pastime in what are uncertain and anxious days as people enact the strict protocols of social distancing. Never has there been a better time to engage with the sport as we look to find leisure pursuits that are safe and enjoyable.

With strict hygiene rules currently in place at every golf course, in the weeks to come the 5km travel distance will be extended to 20km. This will make golf even more accessible to people looking to spend time outdoors.

Golfers are asked to study the COVID-19 rules in place at every course to ensure the recommended distance from other players, and to be able to isolate yourself before and after you finish a round - and while travelling to and from the course.

With many people now finding themselves with extra time on their hands, and looking for something to do as we try to soldier our way through the COVID-19 crisis, golf is the perfect antidote.

Why not give golf a try? The weather is really pleasant just now and golf is one of the few social activities that is taking place at present.

It makes sense for people who may be feeling the effects of cabin fever to take in a few rounds.

Golf offers a tranquil and short escape away from it all for a couple of hours.

One only has to look around at the wonderful landscapes in Kerry that are home to a selection of fantastic courses – links and parklands. Get out there and enjoy golf while abiding by the social distancing rules. It’s a great way to enjoy summer.
