DEATH OF MAUREEN SEXTON

The death occurred at her daughter’s residence in Askeaton on Thursday last, May 28, of Maureen Sexton (née Brosnahan), Templeglantine East. Maureen served as Church Sacristan following on the death of her husband Tom in December 1996 who had been in the position for 52 years. Maureen retired in 2007. Maureen was kind, courteous and helpful to all and was held in high regard. Parishioners, relatives and acquaintances lined the roadsides as her remains were brought to Templeglantine Church on Saturday last. After the private family Requiem Mass, which was streamed live on the three parishes Facebook page, burial took place in Reilig na Trínóide. Maureen will be sadly missed by her family and by all who knew her.

She is survived by her daughters Noreen (Fitzgerald) and Eileen (Quinn), sons Éamon, Toss, Seán, Anthony and Dan and other relatives. Bean lách, cheasta, chairdiúil ab ea í. Suaimhneas síoraí dá hanam.

PROGRESS

Outstanding progress is being made with this year’s harvesting in the locality. The long dry sunny spell and good ground conditions has facilitated silage making and hay saving. Over the past few weeks the green meadows have been changing to white surfaces as the crops were stowed away for winter fodder. Very shortly we will probably be hearing of the benefits of a few showers of rain. It has been one of the best years for the saving of the turf crop and many have their Winter fuel supply secured and at home.

CÚRSAÍ EAGLAISE

Weekend mass for the three parishes was celebrated in Templeglantine Church on Saturday evening last and was relayed live via Facebook with the recording available later on the three parishes website. Among those remembered in the mass was Joan Cronin, Tullig North (anniversary), Michael Curtin, formerly of Glenshesk (anniversay) and Maureen Sexton, former Church Sacristan who was laid to rest on Saturday. Beannacht Dé ar anamacha na marbh. It was announced that a novena to the Sacred Heart will take place on Wednesday evening during the month of June.

COMHALTAS

A number of local craobh members responded to the request to provide video clips of music, song, storytelling or dance for the Co Limerick Comhaltas Facebook page on the weekend in which Fleadh Cheoil Luimnigh would normally take place.
